The Royal Scientific Society (RSS) is the largest applied research institution, consultancy, and technical support service provider in Jordan and is a regional leader in the fields of science & technology.
With over 25 specialized locally & internationally accredited laboratories, RSS collaborates with both the public and private sectors to offer a unique scientific resource and a wide range of project expertise. Supported by more than 500 science specialists, researchers, technical support staff, highly skilled management, and faculty, the RSS is recognized as a local, regional and international research and development hub.
In addition to an underpinning ‘Research for Partnerships’ sector, the RSS has several notable scientific centres of excellence: ‘Science & Society’; ‘Water, Environment & Climate’; ‘Buildings Research’; and Energy.
The Building Research Centre provides services ranging from architectural, structural, electro-mechanical, and rehabilitation studies, to geotechnical consultations, building codes and cultural heritage preservation, and includes the Disaster Risk Reduction Division. The DRR division supports the national efforts in predicting, assessing and reducing natural risks in Jordan based on the department’s experience in assessing seismic risk and by expanding the scope to include Jordan’s natural hazard profile..
