Sara has spent 15 years at the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) World Secretariat in Barcelona, where she is the Director of the Learning Team. Her work involves supporting UCLG members in peer learning and training activities related to global agendas, particularly the Sendai Framework and the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. She has also been instrumental in establishing effective learning and knowledge management methodologies for local governments. Sara's role includes online courses, peer learning, network creation, and coaching of trainers.

Additionally, Sara is involved in strategic planning within UCLG and participates in various United Nations groups and programs, including those with the German Ministry of Education. Before joining UCLG, she worked for the German development agency GTZ and NGOs in Indonesia and Colombia, focusing on intermunicipal cooperation and land management. She also has a background in urban design and ecoarchitecture, with an architecture degree from RWTH Aachen in Germany.
